About Us
Out of the Fire Studio is owned and operated by Cindy Clarke and her husband Jim Willett. Cindy has been a potter all her life, first as a child with clay from her mother's garden in Dawson Creek British Columbia, then in elementary and high schools and finally as a profession. While Cindy currently does all the wheel work, Jim assists with finishing , kiln loading and unloading, glazing and the myriad other tasks involved in running a studio and retail store. Jim also provides web site maintenance and design and does most of the labeling, packaging and shipping.
Re-located in August of 2001 from Edson to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the studio is the home of all types of wheel thrown and hand built pottery items. As The Clay Teacher® Cindy and Jim take the wonder of clay to thousands of school children each year with hand building workshops. They have also produced a series of Fun Clay Project kits for hand building various projects at home.
